Cliff,

I did not attend 6-27-85, but did see the show at the SPAC in 1988. I also do not like 1985, save for a few shows. I do think 6-27-85 is a different kind of show. For one thing, songs that are usually throw away songs are played very well, such as Rooster (great slide solo from Jerry), El Paso (great soloing from Jerry), Bucket- one of the better versions and even Dont Ease is played very well, perhaps my personal favorite version of a usually worthless song.

What elevates this show for me is my favorite version of Stagger Lee (love how the song starts with Phil ranting and love how Jerry screams out the lyrics at the end). This is perhaps my favorite version of Crazy Fingers followed by the great Supplication jam. But the shows biggest highlight is how the boys meld together Stranger in to Eyes in to GDTRFB. The segs are perfect, almost like they have played those songs together forever, yet I cant think of any other time any of the songs were played together. Jerry's soloing and improv shows no effects from his bad habits and his singing is not too bad. The show really sound nothing like 1985, so perhaps that I why I like it so much.

Just dont listen to High Time (but other than the early versions did Jerry ever sound good on this one?)

This show is so much better than the Hershey show. Jerry sounded so much better here.

i actually do like a little gravel in his voice in that tune - though in 85 the gravel was more like gargled pumice
